GenLove was born as a place for
the "Gen" crowd to share their modern-day love
stories. We don't sip malts at the local diner or go to drive-in
movies with our dates. We use internet dating services and
travel the globe looking for Mr. or Ms. Right-For-Us. Our stories--the
bizarre, the hilarious, the happy, the just-plain-kooky
stories--are largely unprinted and definitely not in those
"soup" books.
These are our stories, how we
find love the modern way. Internet, text-messaging, cell phones,
globe-trotting, you name it: if we can find people using it, we
have!
Have a story to tell us? We'd
love to hear from you! Please click on the CONTACT US link on

Just friends? Think Again!
In high school I
was dating one of his (Ryan my current boyfriend), friends. Ryan
and all of his buddies would come over for lunch at my house for
lunch. I always saw Ryan as a quite sexy person that you had no
clue what was on his mind so deep in thought. However, when he
did make comments they where so quick witted jokes, that made me
laugh non stop. Eventually I broke up with my boyfriend at the
time and began hanging out with his friends (including Ryan). We
have been through a lot. High school, Graduation, new jobs,
college, 21 birthdays, deaths, family marriages and divorce,
great vacations, arguments. Everything that a relationship
needs. We have been able to push through so many troubles that
we can with stand anything. Ryan
and I have been together for 5 years in Feb. We still haven't
made that next big step of moving in together, but sooner or
later it will happen. I guess when the gods want us to.
Through All Those Years...
We met 16 years ago
in Brazil at a new resort hotel that she was working at as the exercise
instructor. Through a language barrier, and under the watchful
yes of the hotel and my parents, we fell in love. I'm 32 now and
she's 38, and after years of on again off again off again on
again 3000+ mile long distance relationship I am moving down
there to see if things will work long term for us. Yea for amor!
Dancing Scheme
It was my 23rd birthday and my friends took me out to my
favorite bar to celebrate. Since it was really crowded that
night we didn't get our usual table, and the only one we could
find was right beside the dance floor. After a few obligatory
birthday shots and several beers I started to watch the people
who were dancing and noticed a cute guy whom I'd never met
before which was odd since I knew just about everyone who hung
out there. As I was watching him dance, he suddenly
grabbed his leg and limped off the dance floor right over to
beside where I was sitting. Since I was full of social
lubricant, I found myself asking him if he was ok and kind of
half-massaging his calf where he indicated he had hurt himself.
We ended up talking for the rest of the night and became a
couple very soon after. It wasn't until a few days later that he
finally fessed up that he was a near professional break dancer,
and had faked his "injury" to get me to talk to him!
Daddy Gen
An airline strike in 1966 forced me to abandon the airlines and leave the driving to Greyhound. I shared a seat with a delightful lady for four days, spent the next year writing to her from Viet Nam, came home and married her. We're still hitched and still in love. Thirty-nine years and counting. In these day, that's damn near a record.
MP3 Connection
He was playing his iPod so loud on the train that I could hear he was playing one of my favorites songs. I kinda leaned closer to not only jam to the music (it was a stressful day at work!) but to also get a closer look. He looked about my age, had a good style sense, and smelled great. When he caught me singing along with the lyrics, he smiled and offered me an earbud. I joked that I was too young to go deaf so he turned the music down. The next day I noticed he was on the same train, same time. He not only shared his earbud again but his number as well. We've been listening to music together ever since.
Party Girl, Party Boy
My girlfriends drug me out on a Saturday night to go to some party that I knew was going to be lame. So, right off the bat I was pissed. I swore to myself I was NOT going to have a good time and I almost didn't, except for Mike. I saw him frowning across the room and thought it would be great ammo for my friends to hear other people were not having a good time either. Turns out his cat just died. Yikes! It's still kinda sad to think that my boyfriend's cat had to die in order for me to find him that night.
G-String Diva
The first time I met my girlfriend she was topless and I was stuffing dollar bills down her g-string. I never told my parents--they think I met her at the library.
Rome in the Springtime
My company sent me to Rome on business. I had never been out of the country and when the plane started to fly over the ocean, I freaked. Sweat was pouring down my face and I was really upset. Everyone was looking at me like I like I was going to hijack the plane or something. I saw a flight attendant looking over at me, and luckily she came over to calm me down so I didn’t make an idiot out of myself. She sat down next to me…I don’t think that was part of her job, but she did it anyway. She seemed to understand why I was scared. She said even after hundreds of flights, she still got nervous looking out over the water! I’d never really “lost it” in public like that before, and never had a stranger take time to help me. At the end of the flight I got the courage to ask for her phone number. It’s been over a year now and she is looking to quit her job and move in with me.
Free T-Shirt and Digits
We met at a club in Daytona over spring break, taking shots at
the bar for a contest--whoever drank the most in 30 seconds won
a t-shirt. We both reached for the same shot glass and managed
to send a bunch of them flying across the bar. He gave me his
shirt as a consolation prize. We exchanged numbers that night
and have been talking with each other ever since.
